You can find a farely decent introduction to OnLive in here: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_i ... tory=22875 .
They claim that their system works with any standard PC game and has just one milisecond in latency.

wow.

this story at least cleared a lot of my doubts about onlive.

removing the need to continually upgrade PC hardware or buy new gaming consoles every generation, makes use of cloud computing -- doing all of the game's video and audio processing on remote servers, then streaming the resultant images and sound back to the user quickly enough to play games in real time.

at least that to stop me buying a new 3d card every few months.

Hmm that cleared up a few issues for me. Thanks for posting it. I'm still in doubt whether or not I'll get Xbox Live or Onlive though. We'll just have to see how onlive turns out.

If Linux and Mac can also handle the streaming video (I don't see why not), then it also eliminates the fact that Linux and Mac OS's aren't built for gaming mostly.

Though, the system will take up a lot of RAM if my guess is correct, streaming large amounts of live video can be quite taxing on a computer, but as long as the computer focuses on it, it shouldn't be an issue.

OnLive has a lot of potential and this introduction backs it up with good quotes and information. If you haven't decided on whether or not to at least look into trying OnLive, I'd recommend reading this intro.
